AirWerks Performance Turbo Additions

BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems is proud to announce the long awaited addition to their AirWerks high performance turbo series, the S400SX. This new series of turbos were designed specifically to bolt-into existing high performance applications and features extended tip compressor wheel technology. With extended tip technology, a properly matched turbo will provide improved airflow and higher-pressure ratios. The new line also showcases several unique turbine housing configurations to fit a variety of application and performance requirements.

“We have seen an incredible amount of success with these off the shelf parts,” says Jack Lorimer, Director of Aftermarket for BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems North America. Many of our sponsored racers are using this engine boosting technology to lead them into the winners' circle time and time again.”

Brian Ballard, a BorgWarner-AirWerks sponsored racer, has been testing the S400SX line of turbos for the past two years in his CSI Racing Chevy Cobalt. Ballard has repeatedly won multiple races, in part, due to boost from the BorgWarner-AirWerks units. Ballard, who has title championships in 2004, 2005, and 2006, added to his laundry list of accolades to become the 2007 NOPI/NDRA Turbo Street champion, while spooling up with the S400SX.

Part numbers 176806, 177101, and 177248 feature unique turbine housing configurations for a variety of application requirements.

CSI Racing Turns Up The Heat

by Corey Mullane /GM Racing

CSI Racing is the race team that makes it all happen for some of GM’s favorite racers, including Jason Hunt, Brian Ballard and Ali Aljibouri. Recently some of the aforementioned racers have been diving into competitions where a FWD four-cylinder isn’t the norm. But hey, that just makes it more fun!

In drag racing, Brian Ballard is putting on a clinic in his Mobil 1/Borg Warner Chevy Cobalt. Ballard took his Chevy Cobalt to the IMSTAR Challenge this past weekend and went toe to toe with some of the fastest rear-wheel-drive sport compacts in the nation. Ballard’s competitors didn’t know what hit them as Ballard came in and qualified in the number one spot. Ballard then duplicated his amazing performances all weekend long to take his spot in the winner’s circle.

Jason Hunt and his Matco Tools Pro FWD Chevy Cobalt have entered into the ADRL series and has received so much attention that he recently was deemed a fan favorite. Hunt, in his most-recent outing, ran an ADRL career best 4.82 in the 1/8 mile to make it into the running for the elimination round. Coming into the first round of eliminations, however, Hunt was taken out by veteran Darrin Hoyle, thus ending the 2007 NOPI Champion’s weekend.

It was a big weekend in drifting, too, as Ali Aljibouri successfully qualified for the Formula Drift Pro Am event at Virginia International Raceway by putting himself in the top eight in the latest US Drift competition. “Double A” qualified in third place for the US Drift event and then dazzled onlookers as he went through the first round of tandem competition to place in the Elite Top 8.

Everyone at CSI Racing does an amazing job putting these cars together and without them none of these amazing drivers and cars would make it to the starting line. So a big thanks goes out to everybody at CSI Racing! Keep up the great work!
